Connect Microsoft Copilot to your Fortnox.

First the service is bought in the Fortnox App Market, by you or your administrator. Then you add it to Microsoft Copilot, which takes 10–15 minutes, and the first time often with help from IT.

Already know how?

Add the address as a custom connector.

We have not walked through this guide in a live Microsoft environment. The steps are based on Microsoft's documentation, and if you get stuck we would like to know where.

Before you start: Copilot reaches the service through an agent: you create it in Copilot Studio, connect the service to it as an MCP server and make the agent available in Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams. That asks more of your Microsoft environment than Claude and ChatGPT do, and the first time IT often needs to help. Colleagues who are not system administrators make their first Fortnox sign-in together with one.

  • The service is bought and activated for the right company in the Fortnox App Market. Buying and activating are two separate steps.
  • A system administrator of the company's Fortnox does the sign-in. Fortnox requires it.
  • BankID, or whatever else you sign in to Fortnox with, is at hand.
  • Pop-ups are allowed. The Fortnox sign-in often opens in a window of its own.
  • Ten minutes in one go. The Fortnox sign-in must be finished within ten minutes, and you must be back in Copilot Studio within ten minutes of the last step.

Not bought yet? How to buy in Fortnox.

Step by step

Three parts, 10–15 minutes.

Create the agent · step 1 of 3

Create an agent in Copilot Studio, in your language

Click: Create

Open copilotstudio.microsoft.com and create a new agent. Give it a name, for example Bookkeeping, and choose the language your team works in right here — according to Microsoft, an agent's primary language cannot be changed afterwards. If there is no language choice, try the arrow next to the button and Advanced create.

Sign in and publish · step 1 of 8

Copilot Studio opens our consent page

Click: Godkänn och fortsätt till Fortnox (Approve and continue to Fortnox)

The page is in Swedish. It shows which app wants to connect and what it asks for. Tick Ge skrivrättigheter till bokföringen (give write access to the bookkeeping) if the assistant should be able to propose changes — without the tick it can only read, and you can change it later without reconnecting. Din e-postadress (frivilligt) is your email address, and it is optional.

Stuck on this step?

The page says the Fortnox sign-in was not completed. On screen: Inloggningen hos Fortnox slutfördes inte. The sign-in was cancelled, or was not finished within ten minutes of starting. Start again from the app; the second attempt goes faster.

Sign in to Fortnox

Click: BankID

Fortnox opens, headed Logga in i Fortnox (Sign in to Fortnox). Sign in as usual, for example with BankID. The sign-in is done by a system administrator of the company's Fortnox — that is Fortnox's requirement. If you are already signed in, this step is skipped. Your password never passes through us.

Stuck on this step?

Fortnox says a system administrator is missing. The person signing in is not a system administrator of the company's Fortnox. Ask a system administrator to do this step with you, or to give you that role under Inställningar → Användare (Settings → Users) in Fortnox, then start again from the app.

Choose the company

Click: Your company

Under Välj företag (Choose company), choose the company the assistant should work with. You can add more companies in step 5.

Stuck on this step?

It says the licence is missing. The service is not bought or activated for that company. Buy and activate it in the Fortnox App Market — here is how — and start again. Reconnecting without buying does not help.

The company I want is not in the list. The list shows the companies your Fortnox user can access. If the company is missing, an administrator there needs to give you a user in it.

Approve in Fortnox

Click: Godkänn & aktivera (Approve & activate)

Fortnox shows what the service may use. Click Godkänn & aktivera (Approve & activate) — you then come to our page showing that the company is connected.

More companies, then back to the app

Click: Tillbaka till Copilot Studio (Back to Copilot Studio)

Our page (in Swedish) shows which company is connected. If the service is bought in other companies too, you can bring them in straight away: click Lägg till ett bolag till (Add another company), sign in to Fortnox again and choose the next company. Tick the box there if the assistant should be able to propose changes in that company. Then click Tillbaka till Copilot Studio (Back to Copilot Studio) within ten minutes — the connection is complete only once you are back in the app.

Stuck on this step?

The page says the time to add more companies ran out. On screen: Tiden för att lägga till fler bolag gick ut. The connection was not completed in time. Start again from the app. You can add more companies at any time afterwards — ask the assistant for a link.

Do all companies have to come along now? No. One connection holds up to 50 companies, and you add the rest later by asking the assistant for a link. The link is valid for fifteen minutes.

Test the agent

Ask a question in the test pane, for example "How many unpaid customer invoices do we have?". The answer comes from Fortnox.

Publish to Microsoft 365 and Teams

Click: Publish

Click Publish, go to Channels and choose Teams and Microsoft Copilot. Leave Make agent available in Microsoft Copilot ticked and click Add channel. See agent in Teams adds the agent for yourself.

Share the agent with colleagues

Click: Availability options

Colleagues get the agent through Availability options in the same channel. To make it available to the whole organisation, it first goes to an administrator for approval, and the organisation needs to allow Power Platform apps in Teams — both often a job for IT. Each colleague signs in to Fortnox the first time they use the agent, and anyone who is not a system administrator does it together with one.

Done. You can now ask the agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot and in Teams.

Microsoft Copilot changes its interface often. The steps follow Microsoft's description of Copilot Studio and have not yet been walked through by us in a live Microsoft environment — if you get stuck, write to us.
